The Procedure:
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to reshape or resize the nose for aesthetic or functional purposes. The process includes:
- Consultation & Planning: The surgeon evaluates your facial structure, discusses desired outcomes, and customizes a surgical plan.
- Surgical Approach: The procedure can be performed using either the open rhinoplasty technique (small incision under the nose) or the closed technique (incisions inside the nostrils).
- Reshaping & Refinement: Bone and cartilage are adjusted to achieve the desired shape and symmetry. In some cases, cartilage grafting may be used for support.
Recovery:
Post-surgery, patients can expect:
- Swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes for the first 7-14 days
- The splint and external bandages are typically removed within a week
- Most patients can return to light activities within 10-14 days and resume full activity in 4-6 weeks
- Final results become more visible after 3-6 months, with full refinement settling in over a year
Post-Op Care & Precautions:
To ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results, patients should:
✔️ Avoid touching or applying pressure to the nose
✔️ Sleep with the head elevated for the first few weeks
✔️ Avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for at least four weeks
✔️ Follow all medications and aftercare instructions provided by the surgeon
✔️ Protect the nose from sun exposure and avoid wearing glasses directly on the bridge for a few weeks
